 "15inch Digital Picture Frame" 2010-02-09
By Barbara T. Canario (Kailua, HI, US)
I've been wanting a digital picture frame for a couple of years now but I did not want a small one and I did not want to spend an arm and a leg. This one was the perfect size, easy to operate and the price was certainly right.

"15 inch- perfect gift and size- unless for a small desk- this is the size to get for home use" 2010-01-10

this is the size to get for a home- any smaller is a waste- unless placing it on a small desk-

this shows true quality of photos and the people and places in them-!

 "works perfect!" 2010-01-08
By Johnny Johnson (USA)
I have been using this for about a month now. No problems at all. I read some previous reviews saying the pictures would freeze, this has not been a problem for me. The device is meant to display pictures which are 1024x768 so i am guessing people having problems are uploading directly from cameras which typically are 2592 x 1944 or higher. The picture quality will be just as sharp no matter what the resolution is as long as it is a good picture in the first place...the higher resolution is just a bigger picture which cannot fit onto the screen and therefore needs to be reduced to 1024x768 in order to fit perfectly on this device.

In short, works great, no problems, easy to use and set up, great value.

"DO NOT ORDER THIS PRODUCT, THERE ARE SERIOUS PROBLEMS" 2009-12-17
By Sarah Gilday
It is very important if you are considering ordering this product, you do not order it! I ordered this photo frame in December, 2008 and paid $200. It stopped powering on a few months after I received it. This seems to be a common problem with the product based on other reviews. Unfortunately Amazon has a 30 day return policy so there is nothing I can do to remedy the problem and I am stuck with the defective item. It is so disappointing to have ordered such an expensive product and have it malfunction and then be told there is nothing anyone can do. Even more disappointing to have a company like Amazon.com not stand behind their products, and sell products that have poor reviews.

I have notified Amazon.com to discontinue this product based on my own experience and that of others on this site.

If you are looking to spend over $100 on a photo frame, my advice would be to purchase from a store like Kohl's with a generous return policy should the item stop working, or purchase at Best Buy and buy the extended warranty.

"Picture excellent, use of Flash Drive annoying" 2009-11-12
By Reader (usa)
The picture is excellent, the lack of upmarket software stuff like choice of folder, size of picture etc. doesn't bother me -- that's why I bought this cheapie!

However, the documentation states that you can use a Flash Drive with it as one of the external media accessories. BUT -- the Flash Drive plug is on the bottom and standard USB Flash Drives are longer than the space allowed so when you add a Flash Drive and put the frame on a flat surface (table, etc.) the frame falls over.

Plus, the On/Off switch is on the bottom so you have to lift it up each time you use it.

The only way to use the frame easily, and with Flash Drives, is to adjust the support leg so that the frame sits on its side. I happen to prefer my photo frames to be wider than higher, so this annoys me a lot.

Nice looking frame. Locks up at least once a day. Won't display large file sizes. Would look at other frames and would not recommend this product.

"Good item, very poor vendor support" 2010-02-07
By Jeffrey L. Mckune
This item seems to work fairly well, but the manual said that a USB cable is included for loading pictures. We bought two as Christmas presents and neither included the cable. Emails to vendor were ignored and we never got the cables. Would not recommend buying from this vendor.

 "DO NOT BUY THIS" 2010-02-07
By S. Cheung (British Columbia)
The user interface is badly designed, super slow and super inefficient.

It didn't play .mov clips my canon camera took even though it said it could. The online tech support replied quickly with lots of details, but I don't 100% believe/agree, because neither the picture frame nor the camera provided such detailed specification, how would an ordinary consumer knows! I am very disappointed.

"Could be improved - but overall, I'm pleased with this photo frame." 2010-01-14
By K. Russell
I'm a gadget type of guy and I've had my eye on these digital photo albums for quite some time. The early models had small screens and looked more like an electronic device and not a real picture frame. I got some cash for Christmas, saw this Kodak M1020 frame and decided to go for it.

It is very easy to use and the display is bright and sharp. The device offers several options for loading photos... USB cable to load built-in memory via computer, USB flash drive, and various common format flash memory cards. The menu interface is unusual and does take a little getting used to, but I'm glad it is not a touch screen. I'd rather use a quirky interface touching the outer frame when needed rather than have to remove finger prints from the screen every time I change the settings. A remote would have been a better option - but this model does not have one. I use the feature to turn the frame off and on at specified times (why display photos all night long). I managed to get the music feature to work - but doubt I'll use it.

I paid $130 -- which is pretty hefty in my book. But it is a nice size, looks nice, and offers enough features to make it worth the price. I just hope it lasts.

One issue I did have... I resized about 5000 photos to the native resolution of the device (800 x 480) and put them on a single SD card. The frame software had a real tough time dealing with that many photos. Displaying thumbnails would take forever and occationally, the frame would lock up for a while and reboot. I cut the number of photos in half and the reboot problem stopped. But still, some menu functions are still sluggish. Even a few thousand photos seems to be straining the application. And as other reviewers have said - the shuffle feature is not as random as it should be. The sequence repeats and not all the the photos make it into the slideshow.

FYI: Kodak released a firmware update (12-2009) -- which I loaded tonight. I reinstalled my SD card with 5000+ photos and the frame seems to be performing much better. The "shuffle" seems to be showing photos I have not seen before, so perhaps that feature is fixed. Time will tell. Anyway - I'm glad to see that Kodak is still supporting and trying to improve the product. Hopefully they will continue to do so.

One last thing... My family thought I was crazy for buying this with my Christmas cash. But they have changed their tune. The frame is within view of the TV -- and every family member finds that they are distracted from their TV show and end up watching the slide show on the photo frame. 20+ years of family photos (scans and digital photos) brings back lots of memories. It really is a cool gadget. I imagine they will be everywhere in a few years. They are a great way of getting those digital photos off of your hard drive and made visible so they can be enjoyed.

"One stills works, one just quit" 2010-01-29
By Moody K. Miles (Northern Virginia)
I bought 2 of these and my daughter bought 1 as well. Of the 2 I bought, one still works and the other one just turned itself off one day while I was showing it off to a friend and it won't turn back on. I contacted both Amazon and the manufacturer and got no where. I couldn't even get a cost to repair it. But it was nice for about 3 months. It had a 90 day warrenty and stopped working on day 100.

 "digital photo frame" 2010-01-23
By Ann B. Elefonte
This product is extremely hard to use. It does not live up to it's claim. Called the customer service # on the box but they were not helpful at all. Had to get a special adapter to plug into frame from my camera. The customer service department insisted the plug should fit, they are mistaken. Would not reccomend this product to anyone. For the money I could have purchased two that were more user friendly.

 "buy a different brand" 2009-12-30
By Jeff M. Greenberg
I chose this frame over other ones because the product description specifically said that one of the custom slide show options was "random picture shuffle". When I pulled it out of the box the first thing I noticed was the rempte control was completely different than the one that wa sshown on the box. When I tried to set my pictures to "random" I discovered that this feature DOESN'T actually exist. When I tried checking the instruction manual, I found that the menus and features that came up on the frame were completely different than what the manual showed. (The manual also required a magnifying glass to read and contained almost no information.) I tried calling the company's (Media Street) customer support number, which is not included with the product...I had to find it online. Unfortunately, all I could get was a recording saying I had to email them. One week later,I still have not heard back from them. I also bought an 8" HP brand frame which I am happy with. The bottom line: spend a few extra bucks on a reputable brand. It may cost a little more up front but at least you won't be stuck with a piece of crap like I am.

"defective sent to me and defective replacement as well. disappointing." 2009-12-28
By P. Scott (Midwest America)
I received this and didn't pay attention to a little haze on the screen, lower left. But it grew and I realized I had a defective frame. Amazon was very good in taking it back and immediately sending me another. However, the replacement was terrible... for one it was as light as a feather, where the first one had good weight to it. AND the screen was shifted, exposing the guts of the frame. My complaint isn't so much in the product, but in the quality control of what they send out.

I was very disappointed, and requested a refund and bought elswhere. I will still buy from Amazon, however, unless I experience more of the same.

 "DOES NOT LAST!" 2009-03-24
By Angelbugg6 (North Carolina)
I have had two of these. I had one that the screen died after a year, I then was allowed to exchange it for the exact same product and was told to make sure to turn it off every night to make it last longer. I had the second one for about 3 months before it started to freeze completely. The display freezes on one picture when an SD card is inserted and then you can't use ANY buttons or the remote. You simply turn it off and on...and can only get ONE picture to display. The product was great when it worked. Loved the beautiful frame. I'm extremely disappointed that I spent the money on this frame that DID NOT last! I hope anyone researching frames finds this useful! I wish I had been told not to buy this one! (AND Pandigital has no useful product support or customer service-I tried! They are horrible!)

 "Poor product" 2010-01-01
By Paul Rosenthal (Cincinnati, OH, USA)
It was obvious that the product was very cheaply made from the moment I began to use it. The colors darken quickly as soon as you move away from a head-on viewing angle. The resolution is lower than claimed in the description. The arm to prop up the frame is constructed such that the frame leans too far back, which makes for a poor viewing angle. I have to push the buttons on the remote very hard several times before the picture frame receives the signal. The SD memory card slot does not have spring action, which means it will eventually wear out after many uses and the SD card will not stay in the slot. Memory card slot faces down, further ensuring that the memory card will fall out.

I am returning this product and plan to buy a replacement in a store where I can try before I buy.

I bought this for my father-in-law for Christmas. When we recieved it, we loaded a memory card with pictures and it worked fine. Pa opens the picture frame on Christmas Day, December 26th, it stopped working. The thing would get through one picture and then shut itself down. I'm just glad that it broke while we could still return it and not 2 months after the fact. I'm also glad that Amazon couldn't exchange it and is just issuing me a refund. I'll be buying a sony or panasonic that will hopefully work longer than 2 days out of the box, I wouldn't trust buying a new one of these. What a dissapointment.

 "Not that good, though..." 2010-01-21
By Durcaprosopul Ud (Mtl, CANADA)
Got one last year which functioned great until a few days after its warranty expired, when the screen freezed white. The support staff responded quick though they didn't help me much, as the product wasn't giving them too much ground. The repairs would cost me the ridiculous amount of $130CAD, plus about ten s&h... The conclusion is obvious: buy another one... hell, no!

The gains in image quality are pulled back by the reliability of this product, and please note that this is not an isolated case. In case you want a reliable product, try another brand/product. Five out of ten.

 "Totally Disappointed" 2009-12-23
By C. Konas (Atlanta, GA)
I bought this product as a gift for my in-laws from a major retailer (NOT AMAZON WHO HAS ALWAYS BEEN GREAT). They've had it for a year and I recently tried to load some additional pictures on it and it just quit working. Tried all the trouble shooting and chatted with them on line to fix it but nothing worked. Then, even though it was still within the 1 year warranty period they told me they wouldn't honor the warranty because I didn't have the original store receipt. I have the credit card receipt but not the store receipt. Bottom line is, it broke within a year and they won't honor the warranty and it cost the same to fix it as to buy a new one. I will not buy a Kodak product again.

"Bought two, neither work, worthless" 2009-12-20
By B. Warner (Colorado Springs, CO)
I purchased two of the Kodak M820 Digital Picture Frames for Christmas gifts. Plug them in, turn them on and only get a white screen. My first stop is the manual, worthless.

The Kodak Help Center is the poorest I've come across.

After proceeding through the step-by-step solutions, which there wasn't one (solution) listed that fit the problem description. I filled out the brief description of the problem. Then I tried the online chat with a "trained technical support agent" and I receive and error that my browser (Firefox) is not supported. I then opened the page in Internet Explorer and received the same error message. So what browser is supported???

To top it off, I click on the link to take a short survey and first it tells me that the survey period is over. When I try it again it returns back to the Step-by-Step Solutions and Repair page. Nice.

I'm not going to bother exchanging them or sending to Kodak for repair. Because I ran into the same problem with two, I'm surely not taking the chance on giving these as gifts.
